Coordinated Children’s Services — a free program of the Ulster County Department of Social Services, serving children and youth up to age 17. CCS works collaboratively with other groups to reduce at-risk behaviors, support families, and avoid sending children to residential facilities. Website available in Spanish and English. Maverick Psychotherapy Group helps individuals, couples, families, and groups but there may be a waiting list. The website is English only but the practice includes two Spanish-speaking therapists, Maria Rojas and Linda Balloqui-Smith.

New Paltz Opioid Overdose Prevention & Response Team is a partnership working  to address community needs and provide hope and help to those facing the challenges caused by a substance use disorder. Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center has a School-Based Clinic in Port Ewen, Ulster County, 845-339-8707. They serve ages 5-18. Website is available in multiple languages including Spanish and English.

Town of New Paltz Office for Community Wellness (845-256-5014) offers free Narcan training every Sunday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., New Paltz Open Air Market, 45 Main Street, and occasionally via Zoom. Training takes about 10 minutes. Leave with a free kit and resources. Get details. Free Narcan kits are available at community pick-up spots and via home delivery to addresses in Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, and Sullivan counties.

Mental Health Association in Ulster County serves all ages. Services listed below are are available at the Clifford Beers Center, 300 Aaron Court, Kingston, Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed major holidays.

Adults can get help navigating the mental health system plus counseling, consultation, care-management, connections to other services, and support groups. Also: social and educational programs, workshops, resource library, computer lab, and club-house style community center. 845-339-9090, ext. 100. Most services are free.

Children with a serious emotional disturbance or two or more chronic medical conditions are eligible for help coordinating their care with Medicaid or other insurance. Their families are eligible for a respite program. 845-339-9090, ext. 1001.

Weekday meals. Breakfast is served for $1 from 9-10 a.m. and lunch for $2, noon to 1 p.m. Those enrolled in an MHA Wellness program may also join a supper social club for $3.

  • Integrated Peer Services staff are embedded in hospitals and intensive short-term treatment program, advocating for better service, trauma-informed care, and more engagement between providers and patients, 845-452-2728, ext. 608.
  • Peer Advocacy and Support staff work with people to explore new ways to improve behavioral health and overall well-being, 845-452-2728.

Samadhi offers free group and individual addiction recovery counseling, art therapy, and case management available in Spanish and English, in person and online. Dora, a Spanish-speaking peer advocate, is available after 2 p.m., Monday through Friday at 845-417-3446.

Outreach and peer recovery programs are at 150 Sawkill Road, Kingston. Outpatient and administration are at 368 Broadway, #204, Kingston.
