Victor Cueva, UIDN executive director

Dear UIDN Friends,

We are excited to announce that UIDN has hired Victor Cueva as our executive director. Victor has the management skills and steady hand to coalesce our ever-growing volunteer organization into an even more effective and versatile source of support to the over 1,000 families we are honored to serve.

And so important during this alarming time for immigrants in the United States, Victor is an experienced and highly respected immigration attorney. On a pro-bono basis, he has already been advising the team of volunteer lawyers who have come forward to help immigrants understand the myriad issues and options tied to their status.

Not only does Victor intimately know the landscape of immigration law, he has many ties to Ulster County, having emigrated here from Peru with his family when he was eleven years old. He has worked in Kingston as an attorney or managing attorney at the Workers Justice Center of New York and Catholic Charities. Most recently, Victor was Fellowship Director at the Immigrant Justice Corps in New York City.

He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Inspire Award for Community Impact from Benjamin Cardozo Law School. In 2017 Victor was selected as a Rising Star by the Hispanic Coalition of NY, Inc.

Victor began work September 15th. Once settled and having met as many of our great volunteers as possible, Victor will work with the board on a three-year strategic planning effort.

We are thrilled to welcome Victor Cueva. UIDNs board and program coordinators are eager to help him shape his vision of the future of the organization that has meant so much to so many.
