“Love your neighbor as yourself.” This is not a suggestion or opinion. It is a binding moral truth. It is the very heartbeat of our humanity. It is divine law – superseding all human laws and rendering null the authority of any law that contradicts it.

This truth is why Pope Francis stated unequivocally that mass deportation is a grave sin. It is why Pope Leo labeled it evil. It is why the National Council of Churches lifted its voice in protest. And why the wider interfaith community, including the Jewish Federation and the Muslim Public Affairs Council, has joined in expressing moral outrage.
