Related: early in August the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York issued a preliminary injunction blocking New York State from enforcing its mask ban.

Governor Hochul and Attorney General James issued a short statement including this, “. . . we stand firm in our belief that masked agents do not make New York safer and our offices are reviewing all legal options at this time.”

In the same ruling, the Court denied the federal government’s motion for an injunction on state’s new law banning formal agreements between local governments and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), known as 287(g) agreements.
