Wage theft commonly affects immigrants and asylum seekers across New York State. This training, led by the Worker Justice Center of NY, will focus on helping service providers and allies better understand the issue.
Included: an overview of key wage and hour protections at both the state and federal level; participants will analyze a case study, learning to recognize common schemes used by employers to cheat and intimidate workers; a review of best practices for helping workers prevent wage theft; and and informal and formal strategies for addressing wage theft when it occurs.
