As anti-immigrant rhetoric and immigration enforcement have increased across the country, immigration scams have also become more widespread and sophisticated.
These scams often target noncitizens and their loved ones during vulnerable moments, sometimes resulting in significant financial loss and, in some cases, complications for a person’s immigration case.
This training will provide an overview of common immigration scams, discuss the potential impacts on individuals and families, share strategies for identifying and avoiding scams, and offer guidance on how to report them. It is open to all and will be led by Emily McCabe of the American Bar Association’s Commission on Immigration. Free to staff and volunteers with not-for-profit organizations.
