“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has expanded its footprint in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Reporting from WIRED reveals that ICE has an existing office in New Windsor in Orange County – one of more than 150 leases and office expansions WIRED reports is part of ICE’s growing enforcement activities.

“Town of New Windsor Supervisor Stephen Bedetti said he had no idea that there was any ICE presence in the town.

“New Windsor’s ICE office is located at 843 Union Avenue about two miles from Stewart International Airport and 30 minutes from a proposed ICE facility in the Village of Chester. Thousands of people have opposed the proposed facility at the former Pep Boys warehouse, with bipartisan support from county lawmakers opposing the plans. Bedetti said he also opposed the facility.
