Basics of Bond Practice at Immigration Court

February 27 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

NY Immigration Coalition logo

Someone calls to tell you they’ve been detained or that a friend was picked up by ICE.

How can you help? What evidence do you gather? What do you argue? What arguments can you expect DHS to make? Should you even take this case? How do you prepare for the hearing?

This training will focus on describing the basic principles of bond requests with Immigration Court ranging from mandatory detentions to new arguments DHS is making against bonds to helpful evidence to how to best present your bond in Court. Walk through case patterns, discuss issue spotting, and identify evidence gathering to build a persuasive bond argument.

This training presumes a basic understanding of immigration law. It will be led by Iris Ramos of The Law Office of Iris Ramos PLLC. Registration will close on February 24 at 5pm. New York-based nonprofit organization staff and volunteers register FREE thanks to the NYS Office of New Americans.
