Catholic Charities Community Services‘s Children’s Call Center may be able to help custodians of unaccompanied minors, understand their roles, responsibilities, and the immigration court process. Call 888-996-3848.

Center for Victim Safety and Support is a program of Family Services, with offices in Kingston (845-331-5641) and Poughkeepsie (845-452-1110, ext. 3400), and 24-hour hotlines for Domestic Violence (845-485-5550) and Rape Crisis/Crime Victims (845-452-7272). FindHelp.org, the Social Care Network powered by Aunt Bertha, is a national resource.  connecting users to resources that have been independently vetted. Just enter a zip code and then choose the type of assistance you’re looking for. (Spanish, English, and many other languages.)

Finding detained or unaccompanied minors

Office of Refugee Resettlement National Call Center (Spanish and English) is supposed to help parents and sponsors looking for a child coming to the U.S. and answer questions from children and parents about issues, such as trafficking, homelessness, and violence. Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (multiple languages) is supposed to answer questions and work to resolve problems including separation of minor children or other dependents. Call 888-351-4024, weekdays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., closed holidays.

Immigrant Defense Project provides legal help to immigrants with criminal records. Callers should be prepared to leave details on an answering machine; calls are returned within two business days.
