DESCRIPTION:This virtual training will explain the Dept. of Justice (DOJ) certification that allows non-attorney staff and volunteers with not-for-profit groups to provide immigration legal services and represent clients before agencies of the Dept. of Homeland Security. \nIt will also cover the requirements and process for submitting new and renewal applications for DOJ recognition for not-for-profits and DOJ accreditation for staff. This training will be led by Hajra Ilyas\, training manager\, New York Immigration Coalition. CLE  credit is not available for this course. Registration will close on April 15\, at 1pm. \n.

DESCRIPTION:This free training is offered by the Columbia County Sanctuary Movement (CCSM). They will discuss best practices and a protocol for communities of faith encountering immigration enforcement agencies. \nAdditionally\, they will conduct a mini-know your rights training specific to houses of worship. Participants will get some time during the training to begin their protocol and ask clarifying questions of facilitators. \nCCSM staff will be joined by Diego Alcalá Laboy\, assistant professor at Albany Law School to discuss the unique rights of communities of faith.
