DACA recipients still at risk–upcoming actions March 5

Despite some favorable court rulings on DACA recently, DACA recipients are STILL AT RISK and need a permanent legislative solution from Congress. Many of us are understandably confused about what the recent court rulings and upcoming March 5th “deadline” mean for current DACA recipients. For a good explanation, check out this article published on Vox.com.
There are TWO upcoming actions this coming Monday, March 5th, targeting Congressman Faso on his failure to support passage of a clean DREAM Action.

Kingston Action – 12pm, 721 Broadway

Join Nobody Leave Mid-Hudson, the Worker Justice Center of New York, Citizen Action of New York Hudson Valley Chapter, and the New York Immigration Coalition THIS MONDAY, March 5th, from 12pm-1pm at Congressman Faso’s office to demand his support for the DREAM Act. If you are affiliated with an organization that would like to be listed as a cosponsor of this action, please contact Alfredo Pacheco at alfredo@nobodyleavesmidhudson.org. Also, please help us spread the word on Facebook! Here is the link to the Facebook event page

Kinderhook Press Conference – 6:30pm, 2 Hudson St

On December 18th, a group of 9 members of congressional district 19 were arrested while demanding a clean DREAM Act and participating in a sit-in in congressman Faso’s Kinderhook office. The group includes members of CCSM, Ulster Immigrant Defense Network, ICE-Free Capital District, Showing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ) Hudson, SURJ Ulster, Tin Horn Uprising and others. On Monday, February 5th we had our first day in court. They will be going back to court on the 5th of March. March 5th is also the congressional deadline for our representatives to take action. There will be a press conference to support the clean DREAM Act to protect our community. See the Facebook event page for more details.
